 Ceskyterrieri kehitettiin risteytyksenä skotlanninterrieristä ja
sealyhaminterrieristä ja on kompromissi molemmista roduista.
Alkuperäisiin rotuihinsa nähden ceskyterrieri on korkeampiraajaisempi
ja liikkuvampi. Kallo ei ole yhtä kapea kuin skotilla, mutta ei
myöskään yhtä leveä kuin sealyllä. Runko on pitkähkö, ceskyn
selkälinja on lievästi kaareva. Sillä on poskenmyötäiset,
keskikokoiset, riippuvat korvat ja matalalle kiinnittynyt häntä, jota
se ei nosta selän päälle muuten kuin innostuessaan. Yleisesti ottaen
on suotavaa, että cesky on pienehkö ja kevyt kuin liian suuri ja
raskas. Rotumääritelmän mukaisesti cesky saisi painaa n. 6 - 10 kiloa.
Rodussa esiintyy kahta perusväriä: harmaa mustalla kirsulla ja ruskea
maksanruskealla kirsulla. Yleisimmin cesky on siniharmaa sen eri
sävyissä. Ruskea väri on erittäin harvinainen. Valkoista saa olla
enintään 20 % koirasta. Vaaleita merkkejä esiintyy päässä (parta ja
posket), kaulassa, rinnassa, vatsassa, raajoissa ja "peräpeilissä".
Ceskyn karva on pitkää ja hienoa, hieman laineikasta sekä
silkkimäistä, muttei liian runsasta. Ceskyllä pitää olla hyvä
pigmentti. Erityisen viehättävä on sen hohtava pastellinväri. Cesky
pestään ja leikataan - trimmataan - tarpeen vaatiessa (kuukauden -
kahden välein). Kunhan cesky kammataan ja harjataan säännöllisesti,
sillä ei ole merkittävää karvanlähtöä..
Ceskyterrieri on helppo kouluttaa. Tämä ominaisuus tekee siitä
miellyttävän seuralaisen. Cesky on erittäin sosiaalinen,
tottelevainen, uskollinen, hyväntahtoinen, oppivainen ja kiltti, mutta
se on hieman varautunut vieraita kohtaan. Se on pienuudestaan
huolimatta mitä parhain lenkkikaveri, joka jaksaa mukana pidemmilläkin
lenkeillä omistajansa kanssa. |

 The
cesky terrier was developed as a cross between a scottish
terrier and a Sealyham terrier, and it is a compromise of these
two breeds. Compared to the parent breeds, cesky has longer legs
and is more mobile. The skull is not as narrow as that of the
Scottie, nor is it as wide as that of the sealy. The body is
longish and the topline has a gentle curve. The ears are medium
sized and lie close to the cheeks. The tail is set low and
carried upright only when the dog is excited. Overall it is
recommended that the cesky is rather small and light rather than
large and heavy. According to the breed standard the cesky
should weigh approximately 6-10 kilos.
Two colors exist: grey with black nose and brown with liver nose.
The most common color is bluish grey in various shades. The
brown color is extremely rare. White markings covering no
morethan 20% of the dog are permitted. The markings appear on
the head (beard and cheeks), neck, chest, stomach, legs and rear.
The coat of the cesky terrier is long and silky, a bit wavy but
not too thick. A good pigmentation is required. The shiny pastel
color is a distinguishing feature of the breed. The cesky is
washed whenever required and clipped approximately every 6 to 8
weeks. If the cesky is brushed regularly, it does not shed much.
The cesky is also very social, obedient, loyal, good-natured and
easy to train which makes it an ideal companion. It is somewhat
reserved with strangers, though. Despite its small size, the
cesky enjoys exercise and can keep up with its owner even on
long walks.
